In today's blog, I’m going to give you the #1 BEST SECRET FOR TRAINING YOUR DOG!
The secret is finding what motivates your dog to work
Is it food? For a lot of dogs, it's wet dog food that you can crumble and put in your hands and roll like a treat. Or is it raw meat, bacon, or different types of food that can be a high reward for your dog?
If they don't like any of these, try something different! Some dogs like salmon rewards, or duck rewards, or duck feet. There's all kinds of food rewards you can switch through!
Make sure before you train them that they're still a little bit hungry. You want it to be long enough since their last meal that they've had time to develop hunger. So, maybe they just had breakfast. Train them in the afternoon so that they want that food reward.
However, if you just really feel like your dog is not food motivated at all, you can buy a couple of cheap different toys on amazon to find out what they like!
Here are some of my favorite toys I use for dog training 👇

Maybe they are motivated by a ball, or playing tug, or maybe a frisbee?
My German Shepherd, Lydia, LOVES frisbees. She would do anything for a frisbee! You can tell she has spot-on obedience for that frisbee. So, go through different toys and figure out what they like!
If they don't like food or toys, typically they will really love your affection! So hugs, rubs, pets, and praise!
Another tip is to make sure you're breaking or releasing your dog from a command before going into the next command. You can do this using the reward they most enjoy! In doing this, they understand they did a good job and they don't have to do that command once you release them from it.
Lastly, make sure before training that your dog isn't too exhausted. You need all that energy to make sure that your dog is ready for training!
TO RECAP:
👉 a high food reward
👉 love or praise
👉 a toy of choice
👉 and a release from their command
I promise you, something in there will motivate your dog!
We know this will be helpful for you and your dog and we look forward to testimonies of great communication in your relationship!
